Magellan does not publish an open online application; acceptance depends on your credentials, your specialties and Magellan's business needs, and credentialing must be completed before you receive referrals. Providers are credentialed against Magellan's criteria and any criteria required by regulators or client plans.
What to Watch With Magellan Health
Magellan's networks follow its client contracts, which change. Independence Blue Cross, for example, built its own behavioral health network effective January 1, 2023, so a clinician credentialed by Magellan needs a separate Independence credentialing to be in both. Under Centene, Magellan operates independently within Centene's Health Care Enterprises unit.
